PUNTA GORDA AIRPORT TRAFFIC CONTINUES RECOVERY. The Charlotte County Airport Authority announced the Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) passenger count for June 2020 totaled 93,767, with 47,846 departing passengers and 45,921 arriving passengers. June 2020’s passenger count was down 30% from June 2019’s passenger numbers, and planes were an average of 72% full. Private air charter and general aviation traffic also rebounded in June, according to a news release. Air traffic control data shows that the number of total takeoffs and landings was 5,787, down 6% from June 2019. For more information, visit flypgd.com/updates.
B & I CONTRACTORS AWARDED CONTRACT AT FGCU B & I Contractors, a Fort Myers-based subcontracting and building services firm, was recently awarded the HVAC scope of work for the new Academic Building No. 9 project at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). Manhattan Construction awarded the contract on a competitively bid project which includes the installation of roughly one mile of underground chilled water piping required to tie the new building to the campus Central Energy Plant. Work is scheduled to begin this summer, with expected completion by the end of next year. The four0story 116,000-square-foot new construction building will be the home for the Water School. The school is focused on studying and finding solutions to the issues associated with Florida’s waters as well as their impact on the environment and economy.
