B & I Contractors, a Fort Myers-based subcontracting and building services firm, was recently awarded the HVAC scope of work for the new Academic Building No. 9 project at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). Manhattan Construction awarded the contract on a competitively bid project which includes the installation of roughly one mile of underground chilled water piping required to tie the new building to the campus Central Energy Plant. Work is scheduled to begin this summer, with expected completion by the end of next year. The four0story 116,000-square-foot new construction building will be the home for the Water School. The school is focused on studying and finding solutions to the issues associated with Florida’s waters as well as their impact on the environment and economy.
